
Let’s talk about those IP65 Infrared Elements
If you’ve ever tried to heat a locker room or a steamy changing area, you know the struggle. Standard heating elements just can’t handle the dampness. They soak up moisture, short out, and burn through filaments way faster than they should. It’s a headache. That’s why we built these replacement elements with an IP65 rating. Basically, we’ve made sure dust and water jets can’t get anywhere near the electrical terminals.
Heat that actually hits you
Here is the cool part: these use short-wave infrared. Most heaters just try to warm up the air, which takes forever—especially in a drafty room. These lamps are different. They send out radiation that hits objects (and people) directly. It’s why a freezing room feels cozy in a matter of seconds. We use high-purity quartz glass so the heat gets out without any struggle. We also carefully tune the filament’s wattage and length. That way, you get all the heat you need without putting too much stress on the glass.
Why the “IP65” bit actually matters
It isn’t just a fancy label on a box. It means the spots where the wires meet the element are totally sealed off. We use reinforced housing and special gaskets to stop moisture from “creeping” into the lamp base. But a quick heads-up: if you’re swapping these into an old fixture, double-check your wiring. If the connection is loose, it creates a hotspot. And a hotspot will melt that seal right off.
A few things to watch for during install
Installing these is easy. You just pull the old tube out and slide the new one in. Done. But keep this in mind: these lamps put out a lot of intense, localized heat. The IP65 seal keeps the water out, but the heat is still going to radiate everywhere. While you’re in there, take a look at your reflector. If it’s dirty or warped, you’re wasting about 20% of your heat. That forces the element to work harder and run longer, which means it’ll wear out much sooner than it should. Keep it clean, and it’ll last.
